We reserve the right to refuse service, terminate accounts, or cancel bookings at our discretion, including but not limited to cases of abusive behaviour, fraud, or violation of these Terms.
- DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES
Online products (e-books, online courses, and online consultations) are available worldwide and may be priced in SEK or USD. In-person services (courses, workshops, and consultations) are only available in Sweden and are always charged in SEK.
4.1 E-Books and Digital Guides
Digital products are delivered electronically via email or through our Platform upon confirmed payment. You receive a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access the Content for your own educational use.
4.2 Online Courses
Online courses are hosted on our Platform. Access is granted for the duration specified at purchase (e.g., lifetime access, 12-month access). Course content may include video lessons, downloadable resources, quizzes, and community access where applicable.
4.3 In-Person Courses and Workshops
In-person courses are held at locations in Sweden specified in the booking confirmation. Start times, duration, group sizes, and equipment requirements will be communicated in advance. Schedules may be modified due to weather, illness, or unforeseen circumstances (see Section 17).
4.4 Online Consultations
Online consultations are conducted via video conferencing (e.g., Zoom, Teams, Google Meet) or other agreed-upon channels. You are responsible for ensuring you have adequate internet connectivity, a working camera/microphone, and a quiet environment. Sessions begin at the scheduled times regardless of late arrival. All times are communicated in Central European Time (CET/CEST) unless otherwise agreed.
4.5 In-Person Consultations
In-person consultations take place in Sweden at your home, or another agreed public location. You must ensure the environment is safe and that your dog is available and manageable during the session.
- ORDERS AND PAYMENT
5.1 Prices are displayed in Swedish Kronor (SEK) or United States Dollars (USD) depending on the service type and your location. Online products and online consultations may be priced in SEK or USD. In-person courses and in-person consultations are always priced and charged in SEK only. All prices include applicable VAT (moms) for customers within Sweden unless otherwise stated. International customers are responsible for any applicable local taxes, duties, or VAT in their jurisdiction.
5.2 Payment is processed at the time of purchase or booking through our Platform or designated payment processor (Stripe, PayPal, or other) in the currency displayed at checkout. We do not store your full payment card details.
5.3 You agree to provide accurate and complete payment information. We reserve the right to cancel any order or booking where payment cannot be verified or is disputed.
5.4 For customers paying in a currency other than their local currency, your bank or payment provider may charge currency conversion fees or foreign transaction fees. These fees are your responsibility and are not included in our listed prices.
5.5 For instalments or subscription payments, you authorize recurring charges in the stated currency until the full amount is paid or the subscription is cancelled in accordance with these Terms
- PRICING AND CURRENCY
6.1 Prices are subject to change without notice. Changes do not affect orders already confirmed and paid for.
6.2 Online products (e-books, online courses) and online consultations are sold internationally and may be priced in SEK or USD depending on your location or the product listing. The currency and price applicable to you will be clearly displayed before checkout.
6.3 For customers outside Sweden paying in SEK, or customers in Sweden paying in USD, currency conversion and any associated bank fees are your responsibility.
- DELIVERY AND ACCESS
7.1 Digital Products (E-Books, Online Courses)
Delivery is electronic. Access links are sent to the email address provided at checkout, typically immediately after payment confirmation. It is your responsibility to ensure your email address is correct and to check spam/junk folders.
7.2 If you do not receive access within 24 hours of purchase, contact us (see Section 21).
7.3 In-Person Services
Confirmation of booking, including date, time, and location, will be sent via email upon payment. Please retain this confirmation.
- REFUND AND CANCELLATION POLICY
All refunds are issued in the original currency of payment (SEK or USD) via the original payment method, unless otherwise stated below.
8.1 Digital Products (E-Books, Downloadable Content)
Due to the digital nature of e-books and instant delivery, all sales are final. We do not offer refunds on digital downloads unless:
(a) the file is corrupted and cannot be opened after reasonable troubleshooting; or
(b) you were charged in error (e.g., duplicate transaction).
8.2 Online Courses
Refunds for online courses are available within 14 days of purchase, provided you have completed less than 30% of the course content. After 14 days or once 30% of content is accessed, no refund will be issued. This policy complies with EU consumer law where applicable (see Section 9).
8.3 In-Person Courses and Workshops
Cancellations made more than 7 days before the start date receive a full refund minus any non-refundable processing fees. Cancellations between 3–7 days before receive a 50% refund. Cancellations less than 3 days before or no-shows receive no refund. You may transfer your spot to another participant with at least 48 hours’ notice.
8.4 Consultations (Online and In-Person)
(a) Cancellations or rescheduling requests must be made at least 24 hours before the scheduled session. Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice forfeit the full session fee. No-shows are charged in full. We may cancel due to illness or emergency; in such cases, you will be offered a reschedule or full refund.
(b) Follow-Up Services After Evaluation: After an evaluation consultation, you have 14 days to book follow-up services. Depending on your dog’s needs, this may be a structured package or a series of individual focus-block sessions. If booked within 14 days, the evaluation consultation fee will be credited toward the total price. If you book after 14 days, the evaluation fee is not credited and you will be charged the full current price.
(c) Package and Focus-Block Scheduling: When you purchase a package or book a series of focus-block sessions, all appointments are scheduled upfront at the time of booking. Sessions are typically spaced approximately two weeks apart, though the exact interval may be shorter depending on your dog’s needs and the nature of the training. You may reschedule one session with at least 24 hours’ notice. You may also request one break of up to two weeks during the protocol. If training is paused for longer than two weeks, the remaining sessions are forfeited and a new package or focus-block series must be purchased to continue.
- EU CONSUMER RIGHTS AND WITHDRAWAL
9.1 If you are a consumer resident in the European Union, you have statutory rights under EU consumer protection law.
9.2 For digital content (e-books, online courses) delivered immediately upon purchase, you acknowledge and expressly consent that delivery begins before the 14-day withdrawal period ends, and you lose your right of withdrawal once download or streaming has begun. This consent is collected via a mandatory checkbox at checkout.
9.3 Services Scheduled Within the 14-Day Withdrawal Period
(a) Your Statutory Right: Under EU consumer law, you have 14 days from the date of purchase or booking to withdraw from a service contract without giving any reason.
(b) Why We Ask for a Waiver: Our services are designed to begin promptly — evaluation consultations are typically scheduled within a few days, and follow-up sessions (whether as a package or individual focus blocks) normally start within 14 days of purchase. To make this possible, you will be asked at checkout to expressly waive your 14-day withdrawal right for any service scheduled to begin during that period. This waiver is what allows us to begin work immediately; without it, we would be legally required to delay your first session until the 14-day period has expired.
(c) Effect of Waiver: Once you waive the withdrawal period and the service begins (e.g., the evaluation consultation takes place, or the first follow-up session occurs), your statutory right of withdrawal for that service or package is lost. You will always be asked to confirm this waiver separately before payment — it is never assumed.
(d) In-Person Courses and Workshops: The same principle applies. If a course begins within 14 days of your booking, you will be asked to waive your withdrawal right so the course can start on time.
(e) Cooling-Off Option: If you prefer not to waive the withdrawal period, please contact us before booking. We can schedule your first session to begin after the 14-day period has expired, at no additional cost.
9.4 International customers outside the EU are subject to the refund policies stated in Section 8, which may be more generous than local minimum requirements but do not override mandatory consumer protections in your jurisdiction.
9.5 These provisions do not affect your statutory rights for faulty or misdescribed goods or services.
- INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
10.1 All Content, including but not limited to text, images, videos, graphics, logos, course materials, and methodology, is the intellectual property of Life with a Dog or its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
10.2 Upon purchase, you are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Content for personal, non-commercial educational purposes only.
10.3 You may not:
(a) reproduce, distribute, sell, rent, lease, or sublicense any Content;
(b) modify, adapt, translate, or create derivative works from any Content;
(c) remove or alter any copyright notices, watermarks, or proprietary markings;
(d) share login credentials or allow third parties to access your account;
(e) use Content in any commercial training, coaching, or educational program without written permission.
10.4 Violation of these restrictions may result in immediate termination of access and legal action.
- USER CONDUCT
11.1 You agree to use our Services lawfully and respectfully. Prohibited conduct includes:
(a) harassment, abuse, or threats toward staff, other participants, or animals;
(b) recording or distributing sessions without written consent;
(c) sharing account access or pirating Content;
(d) misrepresenting your dog’s health, behaviour, or vaccination status;
(e) bringing a dog to in-person services that poses a danger to humans or other animals without prior disclosure.
(f) By posting a comment on our website, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display that content on the site. You may not post content that is unlawful, defamatory, abusive, spam, or infringing. We reserve the right to edit, decline, or remove any comment at our discretion. Comments reflect the views of the commenter, not of Life with a Dog.
11.2 We reserve the right to remove you from any course or consultation without refund if you violate these conduct standards.
- VETERINARY AND PROFESSIONAL DISCLAIMERS
12.1 Not Veterinary Advice
Life with a Dog provides educational content and behavioural guidance based on ethological science. We are not veterinarians or medical professionals, and nothing in our Content or Services constitutes veterinary, medical, or diagnostic advice. As an ethologist, we specialise in animal behaviour, learning, and emotional responses, but we do not diagnose medical conditions or prescribe treatment.
12.2 When to Consult Your Veterinarian
Our services are educational and behavioural in nature. You do not need veterinary approval to begin basic training or nail care conditioning for a healthy dog. However, we strongly recommend consulting a licensed veterinarian before implementing any protocol if your dog:
(a) shows signs of pain, lameness, swelling, or discomfort in the paws, legs, or joints;
(b) has a history of aggression or fear-based biting that has caused injury;
(c) has a known or suspected medical condition that may affect behaviour, mobility, or healing;
(d) is on medication that affects behaviour, bleeding, or anxiety;
(e) shows signs of nail bed infection, splitting, discoloration, or disease (e.g., SLO, paronychia, ingrown nails).
We operate on the principle that a dog must be pain-free before meaningful behavioural progress can be made. If during any consultation we observe signs suggesting pain or a medical issue, we will pause behavioural work and refer you to a veterinarian.
12.3 No Guarantee of Results
Every dog is an individual. We do not guarantee specific behavioural outcomes, nail length results, or that your dog will become comfortable with nail care. Progress depends on consistent application, the dog’s history, health, and temperament.
12.4 Physical Risk Acknowledgment
Working with dogs always carries inherent physical risks, including but not limited to bites, scratches, jumping, body-slamming, leash-related injuries, and defensive or fear-based aggression directed at humans or other animals. These risks apply during any handling, training, or behavioral work, not only during nail care.
Specific risks associated with our services include:
(a) Nail care: quicking (cutting the quick), bleeding, infection, pain, or defensive biting during paw handling;
(b) General handling and training: bites, scratches, bruising, sprains, falls, or injuries resulting from sudden movement, reactivity, or escape attempts;
(c) In-person sessions in public places or the client’s home: environmental hazards, encounters with other dogs or people, uneven surfaces, traffic, or weather-related risks;
(d) Emotional risks: stress, anxiety, or temporary behavioral regression in the dog or handler during training.
You are responsible for providing accurate information about your dog’s history, behaviour, and health through the pre-consultation questionnaire and during our work together. You assume full responsibility for your own safety, the safety of others present, and your dog’s welfare during and between sessions. You agree to follow all safety instructions provided and to exercise common sense and caution at all times.
12.5 Referral Policy
Scope and Referrals: As an ethologist, we work within the field of animal behaviour and learning. If we observe signs suggesting a medical issue that may be affecting behaviour, we will refer you to a licensed veterinarian for assessment. If we encounter a behavioural case that falls outside our specific expertise or capacity, we may refer you to another qualified behaviour professional or decline to continue services. We will always be transparent about the limits of our competence.
- IN-PERSON SERVICES — ADDITIONAL TERMS
13.1 Dog Health and Vaccination
For in-person courses and consultations, you confirm that your dog is:
(a) up-to-date on legally required vaccinations or has a valid veterinary exemption;
(b) free from contagious illness, parasites, or open wounds;
(c) not in season (heat) unless previously discussed and agreed.
13.2 Safety and Equipment
You are responsible for your dog’s safety and the safety of others. Dogs must be on a leash or under reliable verbal control in shared spaces. You must bring appropriate equipment (leash, harness, treats, non-slip mat for nail sessions) unless otherwise specified.
13.3 Pre-Consultation Questionnaire and Safety Assessment
(a) Questionnaire: After booking an in-person consultation or package, you will receive a behavioural questionnaire to be completed and returned at least 48 hours before the first session. This questionnaire is mandatory and forms the basis of our safety assessment and session planning.
(b) Honest Disclosure: The questionnaire will ask about your dog’s history, including reactivity, aggression, fear, biting, medical conditions, and medication. Please answer honestly and thoroughly. Many clients book precisely because they are experiencing these issues — there is no judgment, and this information is essential for us to prepare appropriately and keep everyone safe.
(c) Safety Adjustments: Based on your responses, we may adjust our approach, including but not limited to: starting with a remote session, requiring muzzle conditioning before in-person work, meeting in a controlled environment, or referring you to another professional if the case falls outside our scope. We will communicate any adjustments with you in advance.
(d) Failure to Complete: If the questionnaire is not returned at least 48 hours before the session, we reserve the right to postpone or cancel the appointment without refund. If significant safety-relevant information is omitted or misrepresented, and this only becomes apparent during the session, we may terminate the session early without refund.
13.4 Weather and Venue Changes
Outdoor sessions may be rescheduled due to extreme weather (temperatures below -10°C or above 28°C, heavy rain, ice, or thunder). Indoor venue changes will be communicated with as much notice as possible.
13.5 Photo and Video Consent
We may photograph or video in-person sessions for educational, promotional, or social media purposes. You will be asked to sign a separate media release. If you decline, we will respect your privacy; however, you may not record our sessions without written consent.
13.6 Minors
Persons under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who assumes responsibility for the minor and their dog during in-person services.
- ONLINE SERVICES — ADDITIONAL TERMS
14.1 International Availability
Online services are subject to any legal restrictions in your jurisdiction.
14.2 Technical Requirements
You are responsible for ensuring you have:
(a) a stable internet connection (minimum 5 Mbps recommended);
(b) a device with a working camera and microphone (for consultations);
(c) updated browser or app compatible with our video platform.
14.3 Time Zones
All consultation times are scheduled and communicated in Central European Time (CET/CEST) unless otherwise agreed in writing. It is your responsibility to convert to your local time zone.
14.4 Session Recording
Online consultations may be recorded for your personal reference with your explicit consent. Recordings are stored securely and deleted after 3 months unless you request earlier deletion. You may not record, screenshot, or distribute sessions without written consent.
14.5 Platform Terms
Use of third-party platforms (Thinkific, Zoom, Stripe, PayPal, etc.) is subject to their respective terms of service and privacy policies. We are not responsible for platform outages, data breaches, or technical failures outside our control.
- LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
15.1 To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Life with a Dog, its owner, employees, and contractors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:
(a) personal injury to you or your dog;
(b) property damage;
(c) emotional distress;
(d) loss of profits, data, or business opportunity;
(e) veterinary costs arising from application of techniques described in our Content.
15.2 Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or our Services shall not exceed the total amount you paid for the specific Service giving rise to the claim.
15.3 Nothing in these Terms limits liability for:
(a) death or personal injury caused by our negligence;
(b) fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
(c) any other liability that cannot be excluded under Swedish or EU law.
- PRIVACY AND DATA PROTECTION
16.1 We process your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference into these Terms.
16.2 We comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Swedish data protection law (Dataskyddsförordningen). For international customers outside the EU/EEA, we apply appropriate safeguards for cross-border data transfers as required by applicable law.
16.3 By using our Services, you consent to our collection and processing of personal data as described in our Privacy Policy, including sharing necessary data with sub-processors such as Thinkific (hosting), Stripe/PayPal (payments), and Mailchimp (email communication).
16.4 You have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your data, and to object to processing. Contact us at [lifewadog@gmail.com] to exercise these rights.
- FORCE MAJEURE
We shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performing our obligations where such failure or delay results from events beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to: acts of God, epidemic or pandemic, war, terrorism, riots, fire, flood, severe weather, strikes, internet or platform outages, or government restrictions. In such cases, we will offer rescheduling or a pro-rata refund where possible.
- GOVERNING LAW AND DISPUTE RESOLUTION
18.1 These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Sweden.
18.2 Any dispute arising from these Terms or our Services shall first be addressed through good-faith negotiation.
18.3 If negotiation fails, disputes shall be resolved in accordance with Swedish law. EU consumers may also refer disputes to the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform (https://ec.europa.eu/odr).
18.4 For disputes not resolved through negotiation, the courts of Gothenburg, Sweden, shall have exclusive jurisdiction, without prejudice to a consumer’s right to bring proceedings in their home jurisdiction under EU law.
18.5 International customers outside the EU acknowledge that Swedish law governs these Terms and that bringing a claim may require engagement with Swedish legal processes.
- CHANGES TO THESE TERMS
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified via email or a prominent notice on our website. Continued use of our Services after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. The version in force at the time of your purchase or booking applies to that transaction.
- SEVERABILITY
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable under applicable law, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
